Thank you for support as we work toward becoming a National PTA School of Excellence!
We want to thank all of our volunteers from last night's carnival. We had parents, staff, and high schoolers that came out and help make the event a success. A HUGE thank you to Carrie Henderson for taking on the role of organizing the event. It is one of the larger of the events we do and she did an amazing job. I have heard nothing but great things about last nights event.
A thank you to the vendors who participated and gave their time and sponsorships. They were Fun Services who provided the bounce houses and some games. Texas Roadhouse for the delicious meal, Brea's Coffee with the amazing coffee. If you didn't try you lost out of some yummy ice coffee. J. Thor Productions, Inc for providing all the table and chairs for families to sit and eat. Lindsay Dicus-Harrison, Realtor for the trick or treat. If I forgot somebody I do apologize. We are grateful for the wonderful support we get from our parents and community.
A reminder that the profits from this event goes back to the teaches and staff for them to use for the students and classrooms. We can't thank the parents that came out participated last night, we truly hope you and the kids had a great time.
Be on the look out for a survey coming home with your child this week. This year Orange Grove PTA has decided to participate in the National PTA School of Excellence.
What is National PTA School of Excellence?
The goal of the School of Excellence program is to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of our OGE students. We achieve this goal by forming family-school partnerships that strengthen family engagement and supporting student and school success.
By participating in the program in the program we will:
We feel Orange Grove Elementary and Orange Grove PTA can achieve that together—and the result will be national, state and community-wide visibility for the positive impact we are making together at Orange Grove Elementary.
We need your help! As part of the process, National PTA requests feedback from families at two points in the school year—the beginning and the end. Your feedback will help National PTA generate a customized Roadmap to Excellence for us, which will provide specific recommendations for improving our family-school partnership and achieving excellence.
Please take 5-10 minutes to reflect on your experience at this school and complete the attached survey. Mark an “X” in the box that most accurately expresses how you feel about your experience. You can also take the survey online by going to https://goo.gl/forms/wX7Cnf4ixZZ0Nyr42. This survey is completely anonymous. If you choose to use the attached survey please return this survey to your child’s teacher. Survey deadline is October 25th.
Reflections entries are due in just a week! Please turn in all your artwork Thursday, October 19th. I will be in the front by the flag pole collecting entries if weather permits, and inside the hallway if it's raining. If you're nab;e to come before or after school please let me know so we can coordinate another time.
Now it's easier for your child to get on station and ST Math at home! Clever @ Home supports learning outside of the classroom. When your student logs onto Clever they can access online digital textbooks, station, ST Math and much more. Clever was designed to help at home learning all in one place.
Students can login at home from the computer or iPads. More information on logging on how to download the program can be find on the Pinellas County website.
What is Reflections?
Reflections is a national PTA student arts program. Orange Grove is participates in this program every year. We will have the opportunity to choose artist submissions to move on to the next round on the county level. Each year the theme changes and this year's theme is "Within Reach". Judges will be looking for how well the submissions interpret the theme, creativity of the piece, and the thought process.
To participate go to our Reflections web page where you will find all the details, forms, and important dates. There is no limit to the how many categories one student may participate in. Once the work is finished we will be collecting the pieces by October 19th to be organized and judged. Everyone's artwork will be on displayed in the hallway.
We will have 2 after school workshops to help students with the pieces. You can register on Sign Up Genius.
Last Friday, we were able to celebrate Grandparents Day! It was postponed sue to Hurricane Irma and what an amazing event it turned out to be. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and adopted grandparents filled the cafeteria and picnic areas. The children laughed and enjoyed their time while eating lunch.
Grandparents Day is a day for celebrating the connections between the generations. It is to honor grandparents, to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children's children, and to help children become aware of the strength, information and guidance older people can offer.
Thank you for the committee for organizing the event, the volunteers who came to help, and the grandparents that visited from the local nursing home. They gave their time to be with the children who may not have had a grandparent there.
You can check out some of the pictures from that day on the home page.
