Every year Pinellas County puts together a school assessment survey. This is part of our school's accreditation and we are looking for your feedback to help guide our schools improvement plan. Your opinion is valuable and appreciated. The survey will only take a few minutes of your time. The survey is anonymous so please give your honest opinion.
The survey will close march 12th.
Join Pinellas County Council PTA Thursday, March 15th at PCBS Admin Building, 6:15p. Their program will be featuring a spokespersons from The Kind Mouse. The Kind Mouse is a not for profit organization that assistants families. You can learn about the work they provide and how you can help.
Come join us tonight for family game night! We will have a quick general meeting you won't want to miss. You will be voting on the revised budget for the remainder of the year. Then once that's done we are on to play some bingo and win some prizes. The fifth grade committee will be there selling pizza and sodas. Come and have a fun night with the kids.
We copied below text from Florida PTA Newsletter. This article is in regards to The Hope Scholarship where if a child is being bullied that he/she will be transferred to a different public or private school at the state's expense. Please read the below what Florida PTA is saying about this flawed action.
Now that HB7055, commonly known as the "bullying bill," has passed the House, it has moved to the Senate, where it will be heard in the Education Committee this Tuesday, February 20th at 11:00am. Under a "strike-all" amendment that Senator Hukill filed, the content of the bill has changed to eliminate some House provisions and to reflect Senate positions on a number of issues. Still included in the bill, however, is the Hope Scholarship, which will allow children who have been subjected to a classmate's verbal or physical abuse to attend a different public or private school at state expense.
The Hope Scholarship has two major flaws. First, it does nothing to address the behavior of offenders, thus leaving them in place to victimize other students. Second, it diverts the tax dollars we pay when we buy a new or used car from the state treasury to private schools, without taking into account the ability of the victim's parents to finance a private education on their own, the academic performance of the private school, or its policies regarding incidents of physical or verbal abuse.
Florida PTA opposes the expansion of school choice without full accountability, and the diversion of tax dollars away from general revenues, where they can be used to address the needs of all Floridians. At a time when we have been made newly aware of gaps in our ability to protect our students and our schools, and of our obligations towards teachers and other school personnel, three of whom have just laid down their lives, we must insist that our precious dollars be spent where it counts the most.
Please email your legislator today and tell them to provide real, common-sense solutions to the problems of bullying and other abusive behavior. Tell them as well to exercise sound fiscal judgment, and to allocate our tax dollars in support of all of our students, their teachers, and their schools. To do otherwise would mean that the lessons we have learned these past few days have been wasted on us.
Calling all Moms, Aunts, Sister, Mom Figures, and Dads! What better way to start your day than with a muffin and some coffee?? Here’s your chance to bring your kids to school, and enjoy some breakfast with them as you start the day.
Come join us on Wednesday, January 24th (7:30 AM) for our annual Moms and Muffins and general PTA meeting. We will be serving muffins, milk, and coffee.
Throughout the year we are putting together Orange Grove's yearbook and we are asking our families for help. If you have taken photos at any event in the school, we'd like to consider using them in this year's yearbook. Please send them to email@example.com.
Thank you to everyone who has brought in new items for our Toys for Joy drive. It is much appreciated and OGE families that we are helping are forever grateful for your kindness. However, we aren't done yet. There is still a lot to do before we wrap this up in time for the holidays. We still have our tree full of wishes and our deadline is coming next week.
We are asking that all items you picked from the tree to be returned to us by December 14th. There is link below that you can sign up to help sort through the items we have received so we know what needs to be purchased to fulfill the children's wishes. Any time that you can provide would be helpful.

The PTA is asking for your help to bring joy to some of Orange Grove children and families. We have adopted several Orange Grove children and their siblings to help bring some cheer to their holiday season. We hope to provide with your help: something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read.
Pick a wish from the tree and make a child’s holiday wish come true.
If you would rather donate money you can leave it in the front office and we will do the shopping for you.
Thank you and have a wonderful holiday.
Attention 5th grade parents. Your child designed an original front license plate during their art class. You can purchase this plate from kidstagartpinellas.org by putting in their first name and Orange Grove Elementary. Proceeds go back to Orange Grove and $1 from each tag goes toward Fine Arts scholarships at St. Petersburg College.
The deadline to order your plate in time for the holidays is THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30. The cost is $15 plus $3.50 shipping and handling.
